Puna Rainforest Retreat is a quiet, woodsy place (with an ocean view about 3 miles away) that is approximately 1200 ft elevation near Kalapana in the Puna Forest Reserve. If you prefer nature to streetlights, you will love staying here and meeting others of like mind. We offer four cabins for families or groups. We have five guest rooms available in three cabins that sleep up to ten persons. The Ohia Cabin is a shared kitchen/dining space with additional sleeping available to sleep up to twelve persons. Our rate is $200/night plus 13% tax for up to eight persons, with each additional person $25/night plus tax. So for up to 8 persons, the rate is $200 + tax, with a maximum of 12 persons for $300/night + tax. We do not charge a cleaning fee (but we do ask that you clean up after yourself) or a minimum night stay.
We have a bathhouse with two full baths with on-demand hot water and showers.
The Hibiscus and Orchid Cabins are duplexes with two bedrooms. The Hibiscus Cabin has a queen bed in one room and two twins in the other room. The Orchid Cabin has a king bed in one bedroom and a queen bed in the other bedroom. The Bamboo Cabin is one room that sleeps up to two persons with either a queen bed or with two twins.
The Ohia Cottage is a large shared kitchen/dining space for all to use. We do not charge a cleaning fee, but ask that you help keep the place clean and tidy. We provide coffee and tea, fruit and baked goods for your first morning. Enjoy starting your day in this light-filled space with four skylights and a covered lanai. There is also a daybed with a trundle in the Ohia Cottage for additional sleeping options.
We are located between Pahoa and Kalapana off of Hwy 130 near the Puna Forest Reserve. Enjoy great restaurants in Pahoa and Kalapana, shop at the health food store, grocery stores or gift shops in Pahoa, only four miles away. Drive to Pohoiki surfing beach, Kahena Beach and the Kapoho warm ponds on the Big Island of Hawaii, only minutes away.
